{# ── STATS ── Every tile here is a number we can point at a source for. The old row showed "Reach —" and "Conversions —" because `default:"—"` fires on 0 and no metric snapshot has ever been recorded for most campaigns, so a lone dash was the normal state rather than the exception. Tiles now render only when there is something real to put in them. #}

What is happening

A team from Wellness Solutions Africa is walking from Nairobi to Lugari. Four hundred kilometres, ten days, on foot. They set off from the studio and are heading west, and the distance at the top of this page is the ground confirmed so far.

The route runs through Limuru, drops down the escarpment into the Rift Valley, crosses the floor past Naivasha and Gilgil, goes through Nakuru, over Mau Summit and down into Eldoret, then out through Turbo to Lugari. Most people who know this road know it from a car window.

Why walk it

Wellness Solutions Africa has worked out of the same Nairobi studio since 2013, and the room has become something specific: a place people are sent when the pain has not resolved and nobody has properly looked at how they move.

Walking the road puts that work in front of the towns along it, and funds the next stretch of it at home. Twelve years of telling people that movement changes what a body can do, and then going out and walking four hundred kilometres of the argument.

What happens along the way

At selected stops we plant indigenous seedlings with the communities hosting us, and hold open movement sessions in the towns where there is appetite for them.

These are arranged stops, not a continuous line of planting down the highway. Where they land depends on who says yes and when the team gets there, so each one is published after it happens.

How to take part

Walk a stretch. Nobody is expected to do all four hundred kilometres. Meet the team where the route passes closest to you and walk a kilometre, a morning or a full day.

Walk your own kilometre. If the route is nowhere near you, walk one where you are and send it to us. They go up alongside the ones on the road.

Back a kilometre. KES 3,000 covers one kilometre of the route and is the figure most people start from, though any amount is welcome and goes into the same journey.

Bring what your organisation is good at. Water, physiotherapy, a meal, a place to sleep, seedlings, a support vehicle, or a team that wants to walk a stretch together.

Following it

The distance on this page is updated as each stage is confirmed. Day-by-day recaps, the stage table and the kilometre wall live on the support page, along with everything the walk is raising for.
